Biography
Yağmur Yörük is a visual artist, academic, and muralist based in İzmir, Türkiye. Her multidisciplinary practice encompasses painting, murals, surface design, pattern, and contemporary interpretations of traditional visual culture. Her work explores the relationship between decorative surfaces, memory, domestic objects, repetition, and personal narratives.
Yörük graduated with honors from Yeditepe University’s Department of Plastic Arts, where she studied painting, sculpture, and ceramics on a full scholarship. She also completed a minor in Industrial Design. In 2016, she participated in the School of Visual Arts Artist Residency Program in New York, where she studied contemporary art and presented her first solo exhibition in Manhattan.
In 2018, she attended the Philadelphia Mural Arts Program with a scholarship, completing training in mural painting, teaching, and community-based mural practices. The same year, she founded her mural company and began collaborating with architectural offices, educational institutions, and private clients on site-specific mural projects.
Yörük holds a thesis-based master’s degree in Art and Design from Yaşar University. She has taught Art Theory at Ege University’s Faculty of Fashion and Design for six years. She is currently pursuing her Proficiency in Art degree at Yaşar University, where her research focuses on the contemporary reinterpretation of the Elibelinde motif across traditional carpets and contemporary surfaces.
Her work has been exhibited internationally in New York, Philadelphia, London, Paris, Miami, İstanbul, İzmir and Bodrum.
